Steller Hair // COVID-19

Over the past few weeks we have experienced a lot of “firsts”, and we aren’t the only ones to say that!

COVID-19 has been devastating to so many across the world, which has been so heavy to watch unfold. This has left us feeling helpless, but has also resulted seeing a beautiful example of what it means to be a community.

As of March 17th, Steller Hair Company is closed (temporarily), and here are a few words from our CEO, Katie Steller:

“In my 6 years of owning Steller Hair Company, I have had to navigate countless variables, low times and painful lessons. I can honestly say that none of those experiences prepared me for the decisions I have had to make over the past couple of weeks.

One of the foundational values my business is built on is to create a safe and inclusive space that supports the mental, emotional and physical well-being of every person who walks through its doors.

Some might assume that a business closing their doors during a global pandemic is a no-brainer, but I promise you that assumption couldn’t be farther from the truth.

I have changed my mind every 5 minutes about what would be best for my team, our clients and the broader community. The heaviness I experience knowing that my decisions greatly affect the lives of others, specifically my team of 20 Steller individuals, takes my breath away.

There are so many nuances and intentional reasonings behind me keeping our doors open so far. Hairstylists can’t work from home, and the financial impact that closing Steller will have on my employees is real and terrifying. It also isn’t lost on me the importance of having a space that feels like an oasis of safety and comfort in a world that is incredibly unpredictable and unsettling.

At the end of the day: I am committed to doing the best I can, with the information I have, in every situation I’m in.

In order to stand behind my statements of safety, stand on my foundational values, and stand for protecting a business that will withstand this current chaos, I have made the impossible decision to close down Steller Hair Company as of 8pm tomorrow (March 18th) ***UPDATE: DUE TO EXECUTIVE ORDER STELLER HAIR IS CLOSED AS OF 3/17*** Our intention is to resume creating epic hair as of April 1st! Please don’t hesitate in reaching out if you have questions.

Thank you for all of your love, support and kindness. You are so important to us, and we care about you deeply!” -Katie Steller

We are currently navigating our new reality, and are unsure of what things will look like moving forward. If you would like to help during this time we encourage you to find a way to support a local small business! Whether that be a meal for the staff, purchasing a gift card for a future appointment/reservation, or even a kind note of encouragement!

If you would like to purchase a gift card to Steller, we wouldn’t sat “no”! We are all going to look a bit disheveled after this is all said and done… our team at Steller Hair Co is excited and ready to help you move forward from this strange experience with confidence in your style and unique self.
